I consider myself to be incredibly lucky to live and work in Cockermouth, just on the fringe of the Lake District National Park. Having free and easy access to such a beautiful area has inevitably influenced my work and attitude to life and has been the perfect place to bring up my two children.
Having worked for over twenty years in the confines of an office, I decided it was time to release my (increasingly vocal) creative soul. I enrolled in a course in Art and Design at the University of Cumbria and in doing so changed my life in every way.
Alongside my course I also began to study glass forming techniques at a glass school in Bath. I was able to combine what I’d learned for my final exhibition pieces. I continue to experiment with different techniques; I love the unpredictable, versatile nature of glass as a material.
In 2014 I became a member of C-ART, the county-wide visual arts programme. This has introduced my work to a larger audience and was hugely successful for me. As a result of the Open Studios event, I am now represented by several galleries thoughout Cumbria and my work is installed in many private homes. In Cockermouth my work is displayed at Gallery Artemis on Main Street.
